ICF foam concrete formwork is produced by heating polystyrene beads to cause them to expand, followed by compression and polymerisation using standardised moulding equipment. Both sides feature recessed or overlapping grooves, with tongue-and-groove joints evenly distributed across the inner and outer surfaces. The density of the foam can be customised, with the standard density being 30 kg/m³. The material is available in standard EPS and graphite EPS; the graphite EPS variant offers superior thermal insulation properties.
