XPS insulation boards, also known as extruded polystyrene foam boards, are rigid foam boards manufactured by heating and mixing polystyrene resin with other raw materials and additives, while simultaneously injecting a catalyst, and then continuously extruding and molding the mixture.
Their scientific name is extruded polystyrene foam for thermal insulation (abbreviated as XPS).
XPS features a perfect closed-cell honeycomb structure. This structure endows XPS boards with excellent properties, making them an energy-efficient and environmentally friendly insulation material characterized by extremely low water absorption (virtually none), moisture resistance, airtightness, light weight, corrosion resistance, low thermal conductivity, high compressive strength, and resistance to aging (with virtually no signs of aging or decomposition under normal use), as well as a long service life.
