Extruded polystyrene (XPS) boards are widely used in building exterior walls, roofs, floors for thermal insulation, and in residential construction. For building wall insulation, they can keep houses warm in winter and cool in summer. In the cold chain logistics sector, XPS boards are suitable for insulation layers in cold storage and refrigeration equipment, as well as for cold storage flooring and wall panels. In transportation infrastructure, XPS boards are used as moisture-proof and thermal insulation layers in highways, railways, and airport runways, and their application is expanding to these areas. This material is also used in underground engineering projects requiring pressure resistance and moisture protection, such as basements and foundations.
With technological advancements, new composite boards have expanded their application areas. For example, reinforced modified foamed cement insulation boards are certified as green design products, belonging to Class A building materials, and exhibit excellent performance in thermal insulation, sound insulation, and fire resistance. XPS boards produced using environmentally friendly processes such as CO₂ foaming agents can be used for passive houses, near-zero energy building exterior wall insulation, and high-speed railway subgrades and airport runway insulation layers.
