Extruded polystyrene board (XPS board) is a rigid foam plastic board made from polystyrene resin or its copolymers, along with other raw materials and polymers. The mixture is heated and mixed while a catalyst is injected, then extruded and molded.

Its internal structure is a closed-cell honeycomb foam structure, with uniform and dense cells that are not interconnected. Key performance indicators include: thermal conductivity typically between 0.028-0.035 W/(m·K), compressive strength typically between 150-700 kPa, density between 25-45 kg/m³, and water absorption typically less than 1%.
