Extruded polystyrene (XPS) board is a closed-cell honeycomb structure rigid foam plastic board made from polystyrene resin and additives through an extrusion process. It was included in the second edition of *Architectural Terminology* in 2014. Its surface is dense with no voids between the cells, resulting in a thermal conductivity as low as 0.028 W/(m·K), a compressive strength of 150-500 kPa, and a volumetric water absorption rate of less than 1%. During production, molten material is extruded under high temperature and pressure, foamed in a mold, and then cut and cooled to form a stable structure.
This material is widely used in building wall insulation, cold storage, airport runways, and highway moisture barriers, maintaining over 80% of its performance over 50 years. The global market size reached 40 billion yuan in 2023, with Chinese companies continuously investing in technological upgrades and environmentally friendly processes. Chongqing Juyuan's reinforced modified foamed cement insulation XPS board has passed the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's green design product certification and has participated in the formulation of industry standards. Industry policies strengthen quality supervision and environmental protection standards, promoting the development of products towards low energy consumption.
