1. Basic Concepts of EPS Density
EPS density directly affects its physical properties, such as compressive strength, thermal insulation performance, and cost. Low-density EPS (10-20 kg/m³) is commonly used in packaging and shock-absorbing materials, while high-density EPS (30-50 kg/m³) is mostly used for building insulation and structural filling.

2. Relationship between Density and Performance

Compressive Strength: The higher the density, the stronger the compressive strength. For example, graphite polystyrene foam boards (density 25-55 kg/m³) produced by Langfang Runhe New Building Materials Co., Ltd. can withstand 550 kPa pressure and are suitable for industrial buildings.

Thermal Insulation: Low-density EPS has a lower thermal conductivity (0.028-0.033 W/(m·K)), such as the polystyrene foam boards from Shaanxi Dingguan Hongye, making them suitable for cold chain insulation.

Cost: High-density materials consume more raw materials, and the price is usually 20%-30% higher.

3.Application Scenarios and Selection Recommendations

Packaging: Choose EPS with a density of 10-15 kg/m³, such as expandable polystyrene (F303 grade) from Shanghai Tuliang Industry, which is lightweight and low-cost.

Building Insulation: Products with a density of 30 kg/m³ or higher are recommended, such as Langfang Haolu's thermosetting modified polystyrene foam board (apparent density 89 kg/m³), which achieves Class A fire resistance.

Special Industrial Applications: Dezhou Gehui's low-temperature resistant polystyrene foam board (density not specified but with high impact resistance) is suitable for mining equipment protection.
